Department of Aerospace Engineering offers career opportunities to students interested in structure and materials, aerodynamics, avionics, propulsion systems, aircraft and spacecraft design, system performance, dynamics and control, systems engineering and similar fields. The objective of the department is the design, development, analysis, testing and production of aircraft and spacecraft for military and civilian use.

The Department of Aerospace Engineering offers a comprehensive curriculum that focuses on mathematics and physics that form the basis of the profession’s interests. The main aim of the program is to provide students skills such as proficiency in research and experimental methods and data collection, advanced analytical and logical thinking ability, high level of mathematical and physical knowledge, interdisciplinary abilities including mechanical and engineering knowledge, and ability to detect and overcome complex technical difficulties to acquire scientific abilities. These skills are critical to finding qualified employment in national and international aerospace institutions and academia.

The Department of Aerospace Engineering was established in 2010 with the approval of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), and started education in 2014 with 36 students. The undergraduate program in the department consists of 145 credits, 12 of which are laboratory and practical courses, and at least 30% of the courses are in English. A 1-year compulsory English preparatory class is applied. The program fully meets the requirements of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) with 240 credits. The first year and a half of the undergraduate level covers compulsory science and engineering courses. The basic aerospace engineering and elective courses are given in the last two and a half years. In addition, there are three summer internships that can be performed in public institutions or private sector and last for 20 working days. You can find employent opportunities to provide engineering services in the technical departments of Turkish Airlines,TAI, TEI and other companies operating in the aviation field. Since graduates will have professional command of the English language, they can also work in aviation and space technology companies abroad. Some of the graduates will be able to find career opportunities as academic staff. The name of the department was changed from Aeronautical and Space Engineering to Aerospace Engineering, with the decision of the Council of Higher Education dated 20/03/2020 and numbered 75850160-104.01.01.01-E.20993.
